Description
Davidson Management Consultants have been mandated to recruit a Chief Scientific Officer for their client in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia which is a leading biomedical and clinical research institute offering end-to-end medicine development. We are looking for a western trained, native Arabic speaking Chief Scientific Officer with a minimum of 20 years of experience out of which at least 8 should be in a senior leadership role within a multinational R&D pharmaceutical facility and must have a thorough understanding of the SFDA's regulations and guidelines, particularly those related to drug registration, pharmacovigilance, and marketing practices.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Quality:
• Ensure all scientific activities, including product development, manufacturing, and marketing, comply with SFDA regulations and other relevant international bodies
• Establish and maintain quality management system for company's scientific operations
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices
• Oversee company's pharmacovigilance system, ensuring monitoring, reporting, and management of adverse drug reactions
Research & Development Management:
• Manage all R&D activities, including drug discovery, preclinical studies, clinical trials, and development of new products
• Monitor and report on progress of scientific projects, ensuring they stay on track and meet objectives
Strategic Leadership:
• Define and execute company's scientific vision, ensuring alignment with mission, values, and strategic goals
• Manage scientific budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness
• Protect company's intellectual property, including patents and trade secrets
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
• Collaborate with other departments including marketing, sales, and manufacturing
• Work with external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, research institutions, and industry partners
Team Leadership & Development:
• Lead and manage scientific and technical teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management
• Lead initiatives to promote development of Saudi scientific talent
• Ensure compliance with Saudi nationalization policies
Requirements
• Western trained
• Native Arabic speaking
• Minimum 20 years of experience
• At least 8 years in senior leadership role within multinational R&D pharmaceutical facility
• Thorough understanding of SFDA's regulations and guidelines
• Knowledge of drug registration, pharmacovigilance, and marketing practices
Compensation
Salary: SAR 65,000 per month plus family benefits
Note: Salary mentioned is indicative. Final offer at client's discretion post-interviews.
